Dan Skjæveland (b. 1987) is a photographer from Kvernaland, currently operating without a fixed base. He showed three works at the National Art Exhibition in 2014, and since then he has participated in numerous exhibitions, notably at the inaugural event at the new National Museum in Oslo in 2022. His first publication, 33 Suspensions, was published in 2023, and he is the recipient of an artist grant from the Norwegian Visual Artists Fund (2022).
My work in the field of photography is situated in the space between the real and the imagined delving into the depths of visual perception with its myriad interpretations. There is a consist engagement with the mundane, and an attempt to elevate it to a level of monumental significance through sculptural forms and lines.
I see my work as revolving around an exploration of the delicate balance between presence and absence, the tangible and the intangible, the concrete and the fluid. This interplay creates a space where meanings are not fixed but constantly evolving, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of personal interpretation and discovery.
